The moon car

On the moon, I doubt this car would look out of place. I keep thinking it would make a good vehicle in an 80’s movies on the moon. Especially since the name of this particular moon car is Extra Terrestrial Vehicle (ETV). The ETV started out as a dream for Mike Vetters, who had originally wanted a Lamborghini. Vetters built this car starting with the body of a Lamborghini Countach, instead of paying for a full Lamborghini.  The chassis I believe is from a Pontiac Fiero. Unlike many high-end sports cars, this one contains a backseat to carry his daughter. In my opinion, it doesn’t really look like a sports car at all.

Features of the Extra Terrestrial Vehicle

The ETV includes gullwing doors that open upwards with a shock absorber to help hold it open. Repurposing a Porsche Boxter bumper into the back end of the ETV to give it some safety features. Strangely enough, it fits right in with the rest of the vehicle. Accessing the covered wheels takes only about 15 minutes by undoing some bolts. Of course, accessing them to put air in is a bit easier. Another useful feature, the backup camera, comes in handy when you have tiny side view mirrors.

Vetters struggled with getting help reshaping the body, being told that it couldn’t be done that way. As a result, he learned how to craft it himself. Unlike many other vehicles, the shell to the car came before the rest. As a matter of fact, Mike custom built most if not all of the car. The glass for the windows was customed made by another company.

The Car Factory

Mike Vetters founded and owns The Car Factory in Micco, Florida. Mike born in Naples, raised in Germany went to college in Florida for a business degree. On the site, it looks like they now make their own glass and taillights. After writing this post I found The Car Factory had a car called the MoonRaker, I think this one fits better on the moon.
