A look back at the Hindenburg disaster


The German airship Hindenburg explodes as it prepares to land at Lakehurst Naval Air Station on May 6, 1937, in Lakehurst, N.J. The massive hydrogen-filled zeppelin burst into flames 78 years ago while easing toward its mooring mast, killing 35 people, plus one on the ground.
